The high delegation of the Nigeria music industry which includes a collecting society officials record label owners and publishers was received at the national assembly today to witness a motion to investigate the activities of the Nigerian copyright commission.
The delegation’s position is geared towards having a copyright collecting society industry that is free of monopoly. They are asking the comittee on justice and judiciary to conduct a joint investigation hearing on the activities of the NCC and also engage MCSN,COSON and other stake holders to address the issue of perceived monopoly in the collecting society business in the country
The speaker of the house hon. Tambuwa gave the delegates a warm welcome as he calls out the names members of the delegate and the house applauded them.
The members of the high delegate are Chief Dokpesi the chairman of Daar communications, Mr. Kenny Ogungbe, Director at Daar communications, Orits Wiliki chairman MCSN. Mr Mayo Ayilaran, DG MCSN.Concerned music proffessionals and record label owners include Yinka Davies, Paul Play Dairo, Pa Jossy friday, Papa fryo, mr Solomon Arueya, Victor Okhai, Jaywon and others.
The position of this group is that that in a democratic government people should be allowed freedom to choose and associate with any music society of their choice.
