CENTRAL BANK OF NIGERIA BATCH “C” CORP MEMBERS VISIT TALITHA CUMI ORPHANAGE HOME
“Those who are happiest are those who do the most for others.”
ABUJA – In line with the Central Bank of Nigeria’s tradition of charity through personal alms giving, the current serving batch “C” corp Members of the Bank paid a charity visit to the “Talitha Cumi Orphanage Home” in Nyanya, on Saturday 8th September, 2012.
The visit was coordinated by the Corp Members’ President, Mr. Aliyu Mahdi (Finance Department), the Vice President Ms. Halima Ahmed (Governor’s Department) and Secretary Mr. John Onuoha (Human Resources Department), in conjunction with the entire batch “C” corp members. The Corp Members through their generous contributions and support from CBN staff were able to provide gifts to the orphanage, which included an electrical powered generator, 3 mattresses, pillows, standing fans and various food items.
The highlight of the visit was the special appearance by the Director Corporate Communications Department Mr. Ugochukwu Okoroafor. He spoke at length commending the Proprietress of the orphanage, Mrs. Regina Nuhu, for her good work with the children. He also commended the Youth Corp Members on the laudable initiative, stating that they have imbibed and implemented a fundamental principle of the Central Bank of Nigeria, which is financial inclusion.
The Proprietress of the Home, Mrs. Regina Nuhu, expressed her profound gratitude and joy at the occasion. She gave a brief history of the Orphanage, the various challenges which include the provision of a permanent and convenient accommodation, and funding for the children’s school fees. She further stated that while the task of raising the children ranging from week old babies to teenagers was not an easy one, she owed God everything and only hope that the children come to grow up responsibly knowing God.
The gift items were formally presented by the Corp Members executives and the Director Corporate Communications Department, and received by Mrs. Regina and her assistants. The children were very receptive and showed this gratitude through their gift of angelic songs that touched the spirits of everyone present. The Corp Members played various traditional childhood games with the children e.g. ten-ten and traditional folklores.
With the presence of the press (The Abuja Inquirer), the sincere laughter of the children and Corp Members and the prayers said, it was indeed a happy and uplifting event.
