As Ramadan begins, the Wellbeing Foundation (WBF) Alaafia Kwara led by Mrs. Toyin Saraki, organized a Peace Prayer Outreach and distributed food items to the poor, aged and infirmed. WBF Alaafia Kwara also launched the 2012 Ramadan Prayer Books to enrich the lives of five thousand Islamic faithfuls and intending pilgrims in Ilorin, Kwara, distributing the books to numerous schools and mosques. As the foundation gave, it encouraged all Muslims to remain devout and practice Zakat by showing empathy to the less fortunate through acts of generosity and charity. In the previous decade, Alaafia Kwara equipped over 5000 pilgrims annually with yearly pilgrimage essentials kits — an initiative that has now been adopted by the Kwara State Government under its current administration.
Speaking in a televised interview, H.E Mrs. Saraki stressed the importance of maintaining peace and non-violence in homes and communities while urging all to pray for pregnant women and children in conflict regions—Borno State in particular, who do not have access to hospitals due to the existing curfew. This call for peace comes at an apt time as the Wellbeing Foundation Africa and other partners of Peace One Day’s Global Truce 2012 Campaign look forward to Peace Day 2012 on September 21st—a day of global non-violence.
A longtime advocate for peace, the Founder-President of the Wellbeing Foundation Africa H.E Mrs. Saraki has sponsored interfaith pilgrimages since 2005 to promote understanding between religions and enable believers to embark on these significant spiritual journeys. As a good mother and wife, H.E Mrs. Saraki seeks to complement the efforts of her husband Senator Abubakar Bukola Saraki who sponsors countless annual beneficiaries to Mecca and Jerusalem through the interfaith pilgrimages. The beneficiaries outlined below have been sponsored to Holy Lands and the Wellbeing Foundation Africa wishes to congratulate those journeying this year and prays that this pilgrimage will strengthen their faith and renew their purpose here on earth.
