Etisalat Restates Commitment to Youth Empowerment Through Music, Other Platforms …As Nigerian Idol II premieres

Leading telecommunications company, Etisalat has once again restated its commitment to continually encourage and empower Nigerian youths to achieve their dreams various platforms like music. The company made the promise at the premiere of the second season of Nigeria’s most prestigious music talent hunt show, Nigerian Idol, held at the Genesis Deluxe Cinemas at the Palms, Lekki, Lagos on Sunday November 27.

According to Etisalat Nigeria’s Brands and Communications Director, Mr. Enitan Denloye, the company was proud to be associated with Nigerian Idol as it creates a platform for the youths to express themselves in song and take their dreams to the next level.

“We are a youthful brand and as such are passionate about the youth. Idols, as a global brand, is the biggest entertainment platform in the world. We are therefore associating with the idol franchise to bring the best of entertainment to our subscribers and viewers at home,” Denloye said.

He disclosed that as lead sponsor of Nigerian Idols, Etisalat will be giving away premium prizes not just to the winner, but also to the runners-up and others in the top 10 positions. The winner of this year’s competition, he disclosed, will smile away with $100,000 in cash, a recording contract, and gifts including a brand new SUV, a Galaxy Tab, a Blackberry, and an iPod.

The first runner up gets N1.5 million, a Galaxy Tab, Blackberry and iPod; and the 2nd runner up will receive N1million, a Galaxy Tab, a Blackberry and an iPod. Finalists from 4th to 10th place also receive each, N100, 000, a Galaxy Tab, a Blackberry and an iPod.

Speaking also at the event, the Executive Producer, Nigerian Idol II, commended the sponsors, namely Etisalat Nigeria, the lead sponsor, Pepsi and Sony, and the production crew for the success of this season’s programme so far. He disclosed that following the successful completion of the auditions in several cities, namely Abuja, Port Harcourt, Enugu and Lagos, the top 100 contestants will be slogging it out to determine who becomes the next Nigerian Idol.

The show, he said, will begin airing on December 4 on TV stations across the country until the winner is announced at a grand gala in April, 2012.
