As their US promotional tour for the movie, DAMAGE, was coming to a close, Uche Jumbo & Tonto Dikeh came out one last time to meet with fans at Festac Ultra Lounge in New York City on October 30th.
VIP was bumping with music provided by DJ Tunez, champagne was flowing and the fans were ready to meet and most definitely greet Nollywood’s own superstars! But let’s rewind a little, back to the hotel (get your mind out the gutter! Lol!). I had the privilege of meeting up with the ladies before hand, did their make up and styled them in my clothing.
Uche Jumbo was up first! We went for a simple look nothing too heavy on her face. She opted for the peach corduroy dress, we paired it up with a choker style necklace & tear drop earrings. We flipped her hair back and she brought the rest to one side.
One thing was obviously on Uche’s mind once we stepped into the lounge and that was the music! I believe ‘Windeck’ was playing when we walked in and she was already getting down. (Peep the photograph above! That says it all!)
Next up was Tonto Dikeh! She wanted a simple look also complete with a ‘nude’ lip color, which she was applying at this point. I knew she would appreciate the lace backless dress to show off her new tattoo, which she got done in Houston and sat several hours for. (Kudos to her because I’m such a punk when it come to needles so getting a tattoo is not exactly high on my list of things to do… just yet!). We also pulled her hair back just as she wanted.
Both ladies were happy to meet and take pictures with anyone that wanted one. Uche even came down to the dance floor to show us ladies how to drop it like its hot!
These two ladies had no problem letting loose and I guess it had to do with the fact that it was their last full night in the States promoting the movie. The previous night they were in ATL with fans and the night before that in Houston, so you can imagine the great feeling of accomplishment they had.
Uche, who is the producer of the movie, DAMAGE, and plays the lead role alongside Kalu Ikeagwu, talked of how she wanted to bring awareness to domestic violence and the affects it has on the children brought up in such an environment. She even did community service in New Jersey to talk about domestic violence.
In the end, it was pleasure to work with these two women who work as hard as they do and are just as passionate about their job as actresses. Tonto said (not verbatim but) she likes to watch herself in movies so she knows how to do better in future movies. I call that sharpening your skills which is never a bad thing.
