WizKid Wins Best African Act @ Music Of Black Origin [MOBO] Awards


WizKid is having a fantastic year as he bags up one of the more internationally prestigious awards, MOBO. The Music Of Black Origin Awards features some of the best artist who make music with black origins.

Wizkid beat out D’banj and Afrobeat artist Seun Kuti who were the other Nigerians nominated in the same caterofy. Other nominees in the category inlcude Cheikh Lo, Fatoumata Diawara, Liquideep, Owiny Sigoma Band, Smod, Spoek Mathambo, and Vieux Farka Toure.

What was WizKid’s reaction to this? He tweeted, #TEAMWIZKID we did it!!..now let’s get the EMA!!!!…God bless every1 dat voted!!!…wow!!!” That pretty much sums up the success this young artist has had this year, despite all the negativity and scandals thrown his way.
