Nneka will perform as part of the “Afrisonore Unplugged Series” in New York City on Friday, May 13th, 2011 at the legendary Sounds of Brazil (S.O.B.) from 11pm to 4am followed by an encore in Washington, DC on Saturday, May 14th, 2011 at the preeminent lounge, The Park at Fourteenth from 5pm to 10pm.
One of the hottest singing sensations to hit the music scene today, Nneka Egbunna, will be performing live at The Park at Fourteenth on May 14, 2011. Nneka has been a major hit with audiences since her debut in 2004 when she performed as the opening act for Sean Paul. Singing in her native Igbo and English, her unique style resonates with musicheads everywhere. This daughter of a Nigerian father and German mother has merged her two backgrounds into a style that is neo-soul cool.
Nneka’s debut album, ‘The Victim of Truth’ earned her rave reviews from many critics and her style was compared to Lauryn Hill’s. Her second album, ‘No Longer at Ease’, addresses the issues affecting the Niger Delta where she is from. Using a fusion of hip-hop, reggae, and soul as her message medium, she delivers a powerful message against the injustice she sees. Her third album, ‘Concrete Jungle‘ has also been a huge success and cemented her firmly in the realm of artists to watch.
Congrats to Afrisonore
