Qslimz took up interest in music at tender age, a rapper who does a whole lot of writing and a little bit of dancing. “You can be a performer and not an artist. But I am more of an artist than a performer” still working of my performance skills. I have spent time researching everything I can about the music industry and becoming an artists. I am not only honing my song writing skills, and piano playing capabilities but I am also developing my total package including my image and stage presence”. The Nigerian Born describes her own music as fun and unique, where some tracks tell stories and others are a showcase of creativity i.e. fun yet meaningful. When asked about her type of music, Qslimz responded, “Right now I see my music as uncategorized (laughs) but my influence ranges from Heather B, Mc Lyte, to Lauryn Hill, and oh yeah The King of Pop Michael Jackson, so there goes a vast combination (laughs) you can categorize it yourself and I’d take it like a duck takes to water”.
While Qslimz heart is in the hip hop world she also gears her music to other genre’s like reggae, Pop, Rock and Afro beat-other wise known as world music. “I find it inspiring that you can also be in the spotlight maintaining a sense of variety and wholesomeness. Lately I have been working on being versatile, Getting familiar with that Nigerian Hip Hop Vibe which is quite exciting since I am based here in the United states trying to do my very best to break into the Nigerian Music Industry. I have made a couple of songs targeting the African audience and I am still working on more songs that my Nigerians can relate to. I plan to work with a few talented Nigerian producers in the near future and I am pretty excited about the forthcoming experience”.
