On Sunday, January 2, 2011, the KOGA Studios, Ikeja Lagos was a melting pot of sort for top government functionaries, high profile celebrities and entertainment buffs who came together to launch KOGA Entertainment, a new facility that will sure reshape the Nigerian Entertainment industry.
The event started with a red carpet that lasted for well over an hour and saw big names in the entertainment world like Lancelot Imasuen, Nobert and Gloria Young, Olu Maintain, Ayo Animashaun strut the red carpet. Other celebrities that graced the red carpet are Alariwo of Africa, Foluke Daramola, Oge Okoye, Elsie Oluku, the Ibru Sisters and DJ Jimmy Jatt who was the Dj for the night.
Starting the main event was a stellar performance by Shuga Band who heralds the audience into what should be expected at the event.
Right after Shuga band came Ali Baba and Chioma of STV, the comperes of the night, they mounted the stage dressed in old school attires and did a stage show which thrilled the guests. After Ali Baba and Chioma’s performance was an energetic performance by Dipo with Troopers Act who held guests spellbound with their traditional infused songs and dance.
Dipo with the Troopers Act soon gave way to the comperes, Ali Baba and Chioma who came back to do a mock news of events that happened in the 80s. The audience was also happy to see adverts from the 80s shown during the mock news.
After the mock news by the comperes, Elvina Ibru mounted the stage and performed some songs she wrote herself. Elvina’s performance was followed by Weird MCs, whose energetic performance got guests on their feet; as she did Ijoya and her other hit songs. Coming after Weird MC was upcoming rapper, Mthrill and a runway display by models from Shakara.
Popular female rapper, Blaise came after the runway display to entertain guests with songs off her new album. Blaise’s performance was suited by a brief tribute documentary on KOGA, shown to the pleasure of the audience. Up and coming hip hop artist Flames was next in line, he kept the momentum of the night as he performed with members of his crew who danced and sang.
It was soon time for the main reason for the night as KOGA; the total entertainment company set to reshape the entertainment world was unveiled. Coming after the unveil of KOGA was multi award winning Nigerian music export, Tuface Idibia who was at hand to round off the event, he performed songs like True Love, For Instance, Implication and Only Me and got guests asking for more.
Speaking on KOGA, Mr. Christopher Jeyibo, the chairman of KOGA Holdings while giving his speech said ‘what we hope to achieve with KOGA is that people will no longer have to go to different places for different things, we looked out for entertainment needs and decide to give a solution to some of them. These entertainment solutions are what we packaged together into the entertainment place called KOGA’.
KOGA is a total entertainment company that is set to unleash its power to entertain in every possible way. It runs businesses that include a record studio, record label, Audio production, TV content aggregator, production house (film, video and event), publishing company, live events studio, events centre that can seat 2,000, relaxation lounge and bar, TV and radio studios and more.
KOGA is also involved in social responsibility reflected in KOGA Foundation. The foundation visits orphanages but does not limit her charitable activities to visiting orphanages alone, the foundation looks out for people in the community that are in need and they render help to them.
